The trick to pocket doors is trimming the jam on the top and pocket side. Pocket door frames consist of both metal and wood components. Installing a pocket door isn t very difficult but it does require some different trim details. Note that any load bearing wall will need the ceiling above it to be adequately supported during remodeling and a new load bearing 2x header must be constructed above the rough opening.
